I had been having Emily the Strange lipbalm for about three years ago when my friend bought it for me online. I really love the packaging and the fruity watermelon scent. Through to its function, it does moisturise my lips and keeps it hydrate, leaving a nice translucent pink tint. However, after a few hours of application, I find that the skin of my lips are still a little chapped. I don’t know why it does so. Maybe I forgot to drink plenty of water to hydrate myself. But nonetheless, I feel that for the tube size and the fact that it lasted me so long, it’s worth it. I think I bought it for about S$15? However, I don’t know if it is still available for sale anymore; which is sad, because I absolutely love the packaging
Maybelline’s Lip Smooth Color & Care in Rose Red is also another product comparable to the previous. With an addition SPF 16 to protect your lips. I do not really favor its scent, my lips don’t feel chapped at all for the whole day. I think I bought it for about S$8 or so?? I really can’t remember. I want to try the burt’s bees lip balm which is about S$6.20 or Nivea’s Milk and Honey (I don’t know its price) once I finished with this two lipbalms that I have.
Moving on to lipsticks, I absolutely love Revlon. I think their lipsticks are about S$24. I find that Revlon’s drugstore products are comparable to high end products like Mac, S$24. Also, as you can see, I love lipsticks more then lip glosses. I don’t like lip gloss sticky formula, plus, I just find the gloss overwhelming my rather full lips. So, the Creme series are very hydrating lipsticks and the colour pigmentation is wonderful. But I like my lipsticks matte, so I will always blot and powder after I apply my Creme lipsticks so it becomes matte. Sassy Mauve is a bright pink with a purplish undertone, Rosewine is a bright red with an orange undertone, and Rose Velvet is a rich pale pink colour. Out of all these three, I am crazy for Rose Velvet.
Next, is Revlon’s Matte Wine Not. Its colour is almost similar to my Mac’s Diva. But Wine Not has a colder purplish undertone while Diva is more of a warmer brick brown undertone. I love both lipsticks so much. But one downside about Wine Not is that, it really chap my lips when I reapply it during the middle of the day. I don’t know why it does since I already moisturise my lips with my lip balm. Diva on the other hand, stays moisturise and lasted for hours. I really love it and use it daily. I will just dab the lipstick on my lips so the colour will not be as intense. I would recommend both Revlon or Mac. It is really up to your preferences.
Last but not least, is Topshop’s hazard (S$19). Its bright red colour really catches attention. It is not an everyday wear colour. I love it’s grungy packaging a lot. One downside though, it has a weird scent to it.
I don’t know if the pricing that I stated down is accurate, but these are the prices that I found from online shops. I really forgotten how much I mostly bought the lipsticks from last year to this year (a few months back). I also don’t have much of a ‘big’ lipstick collection because I am the kind that will use my stuff until it is finished, or worn out, or if I really don’t like it anymore. I don’t like to see things wasted. I hope you like this post!
